Life Rediscovered is a vibrant community of homeschoolers. Our day program offers structure and social opportunities that so many homeschoolers crave. We take the best of a traditional school environment, combine it with all the strengths of homeschooling, and create magic.
During our day program, students cycle through a healthy mix of academics, social activities, and life skills. Teachers and staff are there to support students as needed, working individually with each student, or offering small group lessons to deepen their understanding of certain concepts. Students are combined into two mixed-age classrooms, allowing them the valuable opportunity to learn together and support their peers.
Our younger "Stars Group" spends their mornings in our Montessori environment, where they can choose what materials best interest them as they explore math, ELA, science, and social studies. Our older "Stripes Group" spends their mornings in a combination of self-directed and project based learning- working on curriculum brought from home, as well as projects and units initiated at Life Rediscovered. This gives each family the flexibility of using their chosen homeschool program, while our staff support students in their learning and reinforce concepts learned at home. Examples of past units include: passion projects, entrepreneurship, community service, STEM, and mapping/orienteering.
Afternoons are spent largely outside, with a heavy emphasis on creative play, along with extracurricular clubs planned by the children according to their particular interests (Pokemon club, theater club, chess club, beading club, etc). All children participate in daily gratitude and mindfulness at the end of the day.
During their time with us, students are empowered to take charge of their learning experience while diving deep into their interests. We believe that teaching our students how to learn is most important, as that will enable them to access information and resources as needed throughout their lives.
Subjects explored in our program include: mathematics, english language arts, science, geography, history, botany, and nature studies. Miscellaneous subjects taught may be skills such as: sowing, cloth washing, mapping, logic, chess, etc. We are a conservative group, and believe in traditional values. We are here to cultivate a happy, non-partisan, secular, politics-free learning environment, where kids can be kids.
